Maud's 21st Century Program Celebrates Dr. Seuss Week
Last week, Maud's 21st Century After School Program commemorated Dr. Seuss Week. It is interesting to note that Dr. Seuss's real name was Theodor Seuss Geisel. He adopted the pen name "Dr. Seuss" from his mother's maiden name, Seuss, and included the title "doctor" to enhance the credibility of his writing, despite not holding a medical degree.
Dr. Seuss was a prolific American author and cartoonist. His first book, And to Think That I Saw It on Mulberry Street, faced considerable challenges, being rejected 27 times before its eventual publication in 1937. Throughout his career, he authored over 60 books. Unfortunately, Dr. Seuss passed away on September 24, 1991, at the age of 87.

Good Evening,
