Funeral services for Ed Harman will be held on campus Wednesday the 31st at 2:00. Due to the expected number of people attending the service, the 6th-12th grade students will be dismissed at 12:30. We will run the bus routes and then run them again for the elementary at the regular time. The staff here at Maud Public Schools want to send our condolences to the Harman family during this time. We will have our HS Homecoming Ceremony and Senior Night recognition for our HS Basketball team next Tuesday at 4:00 in the Ed Harmon Gymnasium. That is March 2nd at 4:00. Due to the recent surge in COVID-19 cases and reports, the game against Wayne on Monday has been cancelled. Right now we still plan on being able to play District games at New Lima on the 11th and 12th. Thank you for your continued understanding and support.
After intense contact tracing and confirmation of positive Covid cases in the district, Maud Public Schools will move to Distance Learning until February 16th effective immediately. Buses will run at 12:00 pm today.
Maud school has been notified of a positive case of covid in the 7th grade class and in the 8th grade class. To allow time for contract tracing, we ask that if your child is in the 7th grade or 8th grade that you do not send them to school tomorrow. Basketball updates!! Boys will play at Stratford Friday Night at 7:00. Boys will play at Maysville Saturday at 4:00. Next weeks game at home against Haileyville has been canceled due to COVID on their part. We have moved the Wayne game from next Friday the 5th to Monday the 8th at 6:30. Clarification: It is the High School Girls Team that has been exposed.
We have just received word that the Maud Girls Basketball Team was exposed to the COVID virus. All of the girls played Saturday, so all will be quarantined. Because of this, the girls game scheduled for tonight will be cancelled. The coaches and boys were not close enough to the player to be exposed. Unfortunately, we will have to postpone homecoming that was scheduled for tonight. Not related to COVID, the boys game has been cancelled as well. Thank you for your support and understanding.

High School Bowlegs Tournament updates! Boys and Girls are in the winners bracket. They both play Thursday afternoon. Girls play at 3:30 and the Boys play at 5:00. The Jr. High tournament at Stratford just had a team have to cancel, so the girls game has been bumped up to the 11:20 game. The boys are still scheduled for 2:00. If this changes, I will update. Because of an increase in the potential of exposure to the Covid virus, Maud School will begin the 2nd semester on January 4th remotely. Due to an increase in COVID cases involving our staff and an increase in absences within our district, we will transition to distance learning effective immediately. All students will access lessons and communicate with their teacher(s) through Google Classroom. Wednesday meals will be available for pick-up at the cafeteria, 12:00 to 1:00. Maud Elementary School is having a non-perishable food drive starting tomorrow, December 1, 2020 and ending on Friday, December 11, 2020. We will be making Christmas food boxes for members of our community. Each class is having a race to see which class can bring the most items. The class who brings the most items will win a pizza party on December 17, 2020. Thank you in advance for your help.

The Oklahoma Department of Human Services will be sending Pandemic Electronic Benefits Transfer benefits, or P-EBT, to eligible families – you do not need to apply. If you already have an EBT card the benefits will be loaded on your existing card. If you do not currently have an EBT card, please look out for a P-EBT card in the mail. The number of positive Covid cases in Pottawatomie County have increased significantly due to results from a correctional facility. Maud Schools, in collaboration with health officials, does not feel that any changes to our school protocol are necessary at this time.

Our program is a grant program from the US Dept of Education designed to help students prepare for and enroll in college or other post-secondary options. Our services are at your child's school and virtually (see link below for more info). Summer Learning began this year on May 1 and runs through August 15, with a variety of ways to participate both virtually and from home. This year's Summer Learning Challenge - accessible here - rewards readers for time spent reading either a physical book or through the library's downloadable collection. But as with last year's Challenge, taking part in a variety of activities also will count toward a person's summer goal. There is a wide selection of virtual programs and activities on the PLS YouTube Channel which participants can log and count toward their goal. While individual libraries will not be able to present kickoff events at their locations, each library will be represented with a special Summer Learning Challenge Kickoff Week, scheduled from May 26 through May 31.
